We are studying Ancient History this year.
Ancient Science to go along with it.
Our first experiment was to study ancient tools. First we needed to stick a dowel an unsharpened pencil into the ground to see how, not so easily, it goes in.
We marked the depth with a marker. Then sharpened the pencil. It went in much easier.
The kids then decided they needed something to pound the pencil into the ground. The ancient hammer was created. Love when they discover the rest of the lesson on their own.
Those pencils are in the grass for good.
