Missionary Mail from Kenzie

Hola! Happy first day of school suckers! and to keels

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! YOU ARE GETTING SO BIG!!!

This morning I was cleaning the bathroom and I came across some draino type product and I thought I would pour some down the drain since the water wasnt draining so well. when I poured it out it immediately started smoking and it smelled like burned hair. Definitely effective. We should invest in some of that in the states. Im just curious as to if the pipes are still there. or if they got melted too.

Last monday I went to buy a watch because my watch broke. once again. which makes watch number four for the mission. We looked everywhere and all we could find in existance were hello kitty watches and dora. Now hello kitty is like a big deal here and everyone loves it. I dont know why. I thought it was for little girls. So in the end I decided to go for the cheapest which turned out to be hello kitty. The lady was pumped and shes like oh we have this in lots of colors too and pulled out a silver, a shiny pink, and a shiny purple. wow what a great color selection. of course I went for the purple. I was not too excited about it and me and my comp were just laughing about it all day long. But then something funny happened. This whole week everyone has been freaking out telling me how cute my watch is and how much they love it and if I will give it too them. I just laugh and tell them thanks.

We also had interviews this week. Pretty normal. President said this is probably my last interview before I go home. weird. Turns out I will not be dying here in Reu and They will probably be sending me to masate to die. Couldnt be happier. He tried to send me back to the "tierra fria" I told him NO. No gracias.

This week we went on our quest to get permission for Lesly to get baptized. One day I felt we should go to her house so we walked up and there was lesly in the street looking distraught and right then her mother walked up and started chastizing her. Turns out she got a fungus on her feet from playing in the streets and was itching it and then itching her face so thats why her mom was mad cause she didnt want her to get the fungus on her face and the mom then went on to explain (in much detail) how her other daughter had the same thing and itched certain parts of her body and then got it there too. We then found this as a perfect opportunity and offered to bring her a cream to heal it cause she could hardly walk. so we peaced out of there and headed to the pharmacy. We were worried because she told us it cost 75 quetzales and we did not have that much but we decided to risk it and go anyways. On our way there I said a prayer in my head praying that everything would turn out ok. We got there and the guy charged us 22 quetz for the cream. Awesome. When we were driving away my comp looked at the receipt and saw that it cost a lot more but the guy had given us a big discount for some reason. I told my comp how I had said a prayer and it turns out she did too. And everything turned out ok. God answers prayers. we brought the cream to the house and the mom started crying and went on to tell us how her husband had recently kicked them out of their house and now they built this little house house out of laminas and dont have water, electricity, and barely have food to survive. I felt so bad for them. and we didnt end up asking the mom for permission because we didnt feel it was right. A couple days later we found the mom walking down the street with a ton a huge sugar sacks and she said she was going to wash them and that she had 2000 to wash. I told her we would help her and grabbed a load of bags and my comp looked at me a little terrified (cause she is kind of prissy and doesnt like to get dirty) but realized there was no going back and grabbed a pile of sacks as well. we went to a pila and got to washing. while we were washing it started pouring rain and we finished soaking wet. While washing we did have a conversation about her daughter getting baptized and she said no. But hey I feel like I did something good in the world. and maybe right now is just not her time. But I can see the gospel helping their family a lot in the future.

we also had a baptism this saturday for sergio. He was super pumped and his gma said he waited all day with the cell phone looking at the time and they came at exactly four o clock. a miracle. I think that is the first time in my guatemala existance anyone has been on time to anything. All his friends came and they were all so excited. Yesterday he got confirmed and he was so happy in church.

I cant get this computer to read my memory card so no pics for you.

The church is true and the gospel can change lives. Sometimes your example is more important than anything. so be a good example.

Love you!

Love,

the first and only Hermana Roney (sorry Hayden)
