Missionary Mail from Kenzie

Hola. This week was good. I had changes!! I am now in an area
called Peru. In Retalhuleu. My new companion is Hna baca. My new
area is very very hot. very. Its like double than coatepeque and my
whole body is just shimmery all day long. cause its not sweaty its
shimmery. ok. everyone is. its just normal. my favorite is when
you give everyone their little besitos your face just gets plastered
with their sweat. mmm. yummy. I cried like a nina when I left
coatepeque. I love that place. My new comp is cool. She likes to
work. and so do it. and when you both like to work it makes all the
difference. seriously. Its a miracle. why did I have to have such
evil companions my whole mission?? There is a lesson to be learned
from that right. We have already had lots of success together and I
have been here less than a week.

Saturday we had a baptism. We baptized this little devil named
daniel. his whole family are members but he is just a rebel. my comp
has been visiting him for a while but he always says no he doesnt want
to get baptized. then friday we went to his house and hes just like
tomorrow I am getting baptized at 11. and we were like ok fine if you
insist so we baptized him the next day. the sad thing is his mom
didnt show and we went and asked her why later and she said she had to
go to the market. ok yeah cause thats more important. he didnt seem
to care though.

We are also teaching a family. Veronica and Herberto. Apparently my
comp has been "teaching" them for a while but never asked them if they
wanted to be baptized. so we went and visited them last week and
asked them if they wanted to be baptized and they said yes but the dad
is married to someone else so he couldnt get married and baptized. so
we went and checked out all their paper work and turns out the
building burned down and all the paperwork got messed up and his
paperwork now says he is single. Yipee. So saturday we are marrying
them and baptizing them. we just have to teach them all the lessons
first... what exactly have they been doing here?

We have an investigator named bryan. He is scared. of everything.
us. water. passing the sacrament. elders. everything. because of that
he doesnt want to get baptized.

Also we are teaching another family dominga and lorenza. They are
like 60 years old and have lived together for 33 years. they cant get
baptized because they are not married. why arent they married?
because they feel to young and arent sure about it yet. As if 33
years together is not enough.

we had a really fun ward counsel yesterday. two of the ladies in the
ward freaked out at us in front us everyone because we didnt invite
them to the baptism of daniel because we are "fighting" with them (or
because he told us the night before and we didnt invite anyone because
of time). also i guess her and my comp had gotten into a little tiffy
before and was still mad about that so she just ripped on my comp for
like 5 minutes while my comp was just crying. then the bishop stood up
and shut her down in a very calm way and the lady left the room
bawling. right after that the ward secretary thought it would be a
good idea to sneak my pepper spray and try it out. not a good idea.
he then left the room crying as well. hahaha. the night ended with
the crazy lady pulling us into the bishops office and having a big
dramatic apology. fun time.

Here are some adventures of the week for you. while walking through a
gate my comps skirt got caught on a piece of metal and ripped a big
whole in it. Our investigator was nice enough to sew it right up
before we left her house. Yesterday I was eating my "meat". which
meat here is basically just a big ball of fat on a bone so i was
struggling trying to bite it off and the whole bone went flying. The
whole family died laughing at me. This morning nailed my head in the
shower. I know have a big goose egg. enjoy.

D&C 6:36 (or is it 36:6?) "look unto me in every thought, doubt not, fear not."

I now have 112 days left in the mission. how do I know that?
Presidente told me to start reading doctrine and covenios backwards
one chapter every day and when i am done I will be home. I am now on
chapter 112.

I love you all. Have fun partying without me and traveling the
universe. Let me know when you visit the moon.

Miss you.

Love,

Hermana Roney
