These are my siblings. I only have brothers - 3 of them. One brother died 20 years ago, but here I am with my siblings and their wives. They came to our cabin on Christmas Eve. I intended to serve Honeybaked ham and cheesy potatoes, but Brooke became chef for a day and made Chili Verde with my dad's recipe. Who could resist?!! We exchanged gifts and then they all went home :) My parents decided to spend Christmas at their Condo in Arizona this year.
We acted out the Nativity, which is our tradition every year. I've considered buying the costumes I see at the bookstore, but that would take away from the fun the kids have in inventing their own costumes. Karter spent half a day on his own costume, proclaiming himself a *wiseman*. Usually Karissa doles out the parts and helps with costumes, but she didn't have the chance with school boy this year! We also watched a few videos on dad's ipad. Some really good Christmas messages on lds.org.
Every year the matching Pajamas. The tradition started when I thought it would be so cute having my 3 little kids in traditional matching p.j.'s in front of the tree for an adorable Currier & Ives sort of photo shoot. Little did I know what this would evolve into!
Cookies for Santa - Oh yes, we do believe!!!!!
Christmas day was spent with just our family. It was so awesome. Relaxing, quiet, peaceful..... The highlight for me was talking to my two missionaries! I MISS THEM SO MUCH!!! We tried to conference call, but that didn't happen. Neither of our missionaries were able to skype, so we ended out talking to them separately. They were both a little homesick, Kenzie more so because this is her first Christmas away. I think Kyler already knew what to expect. Talking with them is great. Saying goodbye, knowing we won't talk for another 6 months is hard. No matter how long I talk I always feel a little unsettled afterward. Oh well, they will both be home for next years Christmas. Yeah!!!
